"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21
As we've announced, we'll be starting a new series this Sunday entitled the "Joy of Giving." We're encouraging all of you to purchase the short book, The Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn, as many of the messages will be based on some of the biblical principles shared throughout its pages.
From Chapter one:
Why did Jesus put such an emphasis on money and possessions?
Because there's a fundamental connection between our spiritual lives and how we think about and handle money. We may try to divorce our faith from our finances, but God sees them as inseparable.
We hope this series will inspire us to engage the Scriptures and evaluate our giving in light of God's word and realize everything we have - our treasure, time, and talents - are really all God's! We pray to be good stewards of what he has so generously given to us!
