For Further Reflection/Discussion
Psalm 78:4-7
We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.[...] he commanded our ancestors to teach their children,so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.
1 Corinthians 13:6
Love always trusts
V.B.S. = Value, Believe, Serve (one another, of all generations)
-
What are some of the main things that cause mistrust between the older and younger generation?
-
What ways can we value, believe in, and serve one another?
-
Do you have anyone younger that you are reaching down to? Do you have anyone older that is mentoring you? What can be challenging about finding those relationships? What’s gone well in that area?
If your group has a mix of older and younger:
-
Young asking old: what makes you feel valued? What makes you feel dismissed? If you could see young people rise up in any certain way, what would it be?
-
Old asking young: what makes you feel valued? What makes you feel dismissed? What from older people inspires you?
Challenge for this week:
Find one person (older or younger) to spend time with this week. Put into practice valuing, believing, & serving.
